MY MEMOIR GOES TO CYBERSPACE : A SPECK OF THE EARTH IS OUT TO ROAM THROUGH GALAXIES!
INTRODUCTION
MY MEMOIR GOES TO CYBERSPACE : A SPECK OF THE EARTH IS OUT TO ROAM THROUGH GALAXIES!
ON THE LOOM OF TIME: Portrait of My Life and Times was first published in 2011. Its Second Revised and Enlarged Edition came in December 2014. Even this Edition has gone out of stock. This to happen to a memoir written by a person neither notable nor notorious is amazing!
Will Durant had written to Bertrand Russell a letter on June 8th, 1931 telling him: "Perhaps the verdict of those who have lived is different from that of those who have merely thought." In this Memoir, I have turned to my life and explored my times as one who has lived in various realms and had occasions to think and reflect on issues touching us all. I have witnessed the changes writ large over 75 years of my life forming strange and baffling chiaroscuros, and worrisome conundrums, both in my life and in the times I have portrayed..
The Trustees of the Draupadi Devi-Gopi Kant Jha Charitable Trust, the owner of the copyright on the book, have decided to put this book in the cyberspace so that everyone can get an easy access to the book. Everyone is permitted to draw on this book for illumination and enjoyment; for study and research. The author, and the copyright owner assert their moral right in this Memoir. I am thankful to Taxmann Publications (P) Ltd for appreciating this idea of putting the book on net for larger good.
I would draw your attention to the "Important Information for my Readers" given in the beginning of the book. Please go through it, and do as you deem fit and proper. I would love to share your thoughts for their sweetness and light, for illumination and inspiration, for satisfaction and solace.

PS: After writing the Postscript VI, I wrote the Postscript VII. But I drastically abridged it in the Appendix to Postscript VI ( "Global Economy : A Deal with the Devil") at pages 593-602 of my Memoir. But the said Appendix has called up certain comments, and has given rise to some controversies. I have been asked by some of my readers to draw up a more comprehensive account of the 'constitutionality' and 'justiciability' of India's entry into the WTO, and India's participation in various Bilateral Investment Treaties. In deference to such views, I put on the net what I had written as the PS VII to my book so that the deal with the Devil in our present-day globalised economy is better appreciated. I have entitled this short essay:" Towards the vanishing point of our Constitution: an Inquest on India's entry into the WTO, and the BITs". My foreboding is gruesome. None would be happier than me if the things in the womb of time prove me wrong.
